Curriculum-based Nature Education

saw-whet.jpgMuskoka Wildlife Centre is not a zoo but rather an interactive learning park. Our acclaimed “Speaking of Wildlife” is Canada’s largest live-animal outreach program, and travels across Ontario to libraries, schools and public events teaching people about provincial wildlife and conservation. The Muskoka Wildlife Centre is open to the public and hosts group visits as well. Our interactive programs allow participants to have a close encounter with some of Ontario’s magnificent wild creatures and are designed to give a better appreciation for the wonders of nature.

We offer a variety of curriculum based programming, including an exciting new Winter Elective Program. We can come to you, at your school, or you can come to us. Our presentations feature some of our wild animal residents and can be tailored to
include material for any grade or learning level.

There are 4 options available to teachers who are looking to enhance their students natural science education:

Option 1 - All School Conservation Presentation

~ Treat your whole school to an exciting visit from our wild team, while instilling a respect for nature. ~ Each informative presentation features a close encounter with some of Ontario's magnificent wild creatures and is designed to give the audience a better appreciation for the nature and wildlife around them. Option 2 - Grade Level Curriculum-based Programming

~ Bring a curriculum-based program directly to your grade 1, 2, 4 or 6 students at your school. ~ Each grade level program will be made up of a 1/2 hour presentation, featuring live animals and an additional 1/2 hour of interactive, hands-on activities. We can present to one grade, or up to four grades, in one day. Option 3 - Winter Electives

~ Help your students beat the winter blues with something completely different. ~ Our winter elective program is an exciting 5 week program that will delight all of your most adventurous students. Each week students will participate in exciting and educational activities as well as get to bring home a unique souvenir. Option 4 - Field Trip

~ Release your students into the wild...for a little while. ~ The Muskoka Wildlife Centre provides the perfect setting in which to teach and instill a great appreciation for our natural world and is renowned for its hands-on and interactive approach to teaching. Our interpretive building and trail system house the largest captive collection of native Ontario wildlife in the province.
